Discovery’s Program / Facility Fee Increases January 6, 2025

 

In May 2020, Discovery introduced a” Program Facility Fee”.  After more than four years, this fee is scheduled to increase.  The program facility fee will increase to $40.00 per child per billing period for all children attending a full-time program.  This is a nominal increase of .75 per day per child, which is also less than many other Centres are charging for extra fees. The fee for Nursery School and Flex-Regular will be $20.00 per child per billing period. This fee charge will show as an additional fee on your invoice and will be receipted for tax purposes. 

Discovery’s ability to continue to operate in this community and in our present building is tied to our ability to keep this building operational.  So, for example, when windows need replacing or fire panels need updating, we must come up with the funds to make that happen.  This is an expense that other Centres who are in functioning school buildings do not have.  To meet our obligations and stay in this building we do need to continue to place a significant amount of money into a Capital fund in preparation for these ongoing expenses.  This Program Facility fee is our way of making that happen.  This fee also covers the cost of non-consumable items, including, but not limited to, program furniture and equipment, electronics, laptops, tablets etc."
