Discovery Children’s Centre Celebrates 50 Years at Annual Family Fun Day
“It Never Rains on Family Fun Day”, "I'd like to retract that statement and replace it with: “It Occasionally Hails on Family Fun Day.”
During yesterday’s rainstorm, we had to make some quick adjustments and rethink many of our plans for our annual Family Fun Day and 50th Anniversary celebration. While we weren’t able to do everything we had originally hoped, what mattered most was that we were still able to come together as a community and celebrate this incredible milestone.
A very special thank you goes to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make that happen. The quick thinking, flexibility, and teamwork shown by our staff, board members, and volunteers, ensured that the day could continue despite the challenges. Your dedication and willingness to adapt on short notice made all the difference, and we are incredibly grateful.
Yesterday reminded us of something important: Discovery Children’s Centre has never been defined by a schedule, a program, or even a location. It has always been about people. For 50 years, caring, committed people have come together to create a place where children and families feel supported, welcomed, and valued.
Thank you to our staff, whose hard work and enthusiasm make Discovery such a special place every day. Thank you to our Board of Directors for your guidance and support. Thank you to our volunteers, community partners, and local businesses whose generosity helped make the celebration possible.
Most importantly, thank you to our families—past and present. Your trust, encouragement, and partnership are at the heart of everything we do. We are honoured to be part of your children's lives and grateful that you chose to celebrate with us.
As we reflect on 50 years of Discovery Children’s Centre, we celebrate not only our history but also the people who have shaped it and continue to build its future.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey. Despite the weather, yesterday was a wonderful reminder of the strength, resilience, and spirit of our community.
